Many times our patients arrive by private vehicle. Staff are called outside to assist in getting the patient from the car to the emergency department. As emergency nurses we must decide, how are we going to do this? Is it safe, or do we need additional assistance from public safety? What equipment will we need, and what do we have on hand? PPE? Stretcher or wheelchair? Do we need a C-Collar? How can I do this without hurting my back? Join us as we discuss the answers to these questions and demonstrate extrication techniques all nurses can use.
